NOTD: China Glaze Avalanche

Oh Monday, you’re here yet again….

Mondays are usually so blah, but I’m off today so I’m enjoying it 🙂

A big snow storm is coming in soon and they’re expecting us to get over a foot of snow with blizzard-like conditions. None of that sounds the least bit exciting to me, but in honor of the imminent snowfall I decided to do a NOTD with China Glaze Avalanche.

Avalanche came out in China Glaze’s Winter 2007 Ski Collection. It didn’t interest me  at that time and I saw a lot of negative reviews about it being streaky, but when I was at Sally the other day I decided to grab it because it really is a pretty color.  It’s a silvery/grayish/purple frost and I don’t own anything else like it.

The application was pretty smooth, and it was nearly opaque in one coat. I do see what people were saying when they complained about the streakiness though. It is streaky, but not enough to keep me from wearing it.

To bling it up a bit I decided to add a coat of NYC Starry Silver Glitter.

I freakin’ love this glitter! I owned my first bottle of it when I was 13 or 14 and I used to put it over everything. EVERYTHING. I wasn’t that great at painting my nails back then so when I’d flub a mani or smudge a nail, I’d slap this baby on top to cover it up (cuz glitter makes everything better, right?!) 🙂  I thought it was so awesome, and I rocked it like it was goin’ out of style.

That first bottle has since dried up and been discarded, so I was so elated when I spotted it in the NYC display during my last trip to Target. It brought back so many memories…It’s so funny because when I showed it to my mom she said “Wow, that bottle looks familiar. You used to use that polish all the time.”

Anyway, check out the pics. I still think it looks amazing, even 12 years later 🙂

.

That’s it for today! I hope everyone is having a wonderful start to their week 🙂

  1. I am loving that color!

  2. HAHA!!! GLITTER fixes EVERYTHING!!! That is my mantra. Nail looks uneven, slap some glitter on it. Smudge you didn’t notice until you walk out the door, slap some glitter on it!!! I’m glad I’m not the only one who uses glitter to cover my “oopies”. Now only if life worked that way! 🙂
