Gradation Experimentation

Saturday, Saturday, Saturday
Saturday, Saturday, Saturday
Saturday, Saturday
Saturday night’s all right!

I almost always hear that Elton John song in my head when I think of Saturday. It came out in the early 1970’s, before I was born, but my mom loves Elton John so I grew up listening to him.

Anyway, on with today’s post…

I tried my first gradation manicure the other night. I think the idea and look of it is really awesome, but it can be tricky to find the right kind of nail polish to do it with…at least it was for me.

I played with a couple different colors and ended up using American Apparel Cameo Blue and Nicole by OPI Such A Go-Glitter.

I looooove Cameo Blue. It’s a pretty cornflower blue and it was another one-coat wonder from AA.  I used it as my base color and layered Such A Go Glitter over it, going a litter further up the nail with each new coat- I ended up doing 5.

The gradation came out kind of subtle, but I like it. One of my male coworkers said “I like the blue with the sprinkles on it”, haha…Check it out:

Here it is on my right hand. I think it came out better on this hand for some reason (please excuse the sloppy paint job, I hadn’t cleaned up when I took this photo).

What do you guys think of this? I definitely wanna play around with it and try out some new colors. Any suggestions?
