Pretty & Polished Freedom Calling

Happy Monday and Happy Memorial Day!

I’ve got a quick post today to show you one of the newest lovelies from Pretty & Polished: Freedom Calling.

Freedom Calling is a mix of red, white, blue and silver glitters of all different shapes and sizes in a clear base. It’s a very fun and patriotic color, so I though it fitting to do a mani with it for Memorial Day.

In the pics below I painted my nails with 2 coats of FingerPaints Inkblot Blue, and did an accent nail with 2 coats Zoya Sooki. Then I topped all nails with one coat of Freedom Calling. You can definitely do more coats if you want more glitter, but I was happy with the coverage that I got with one. Check it out:

So what do you think of Freedom Calling?

I think it’s kind of like a red, white and blue version of Connect the Dots.

It’s a perfect little polish that makes it super easy to do festive nails. I’m definitely gonna use it for a 4th of July mani this year as well.

You can buy Freedom Calling from Pretty&Polished’s Etsy shop. The mini bottle that I have is 7ml and it goes for  $4.75 a pop. It’s out of stock right now, but Chelsea does a good job of re-stocking pretty often, and she always announces when a re-stock is planned. So keep your eyes peeled and you can snag a bottle for yourself 🙂

That’s all for today peeps. Let me know what you think of Freedom Calling and have magnificent Monday 😉

NOTD: My Birthday Cupcake Mani

Happy Thursday My Loves!

Today is a super special Thursday cuz its also my birthday! Yay!

My birthday is very close to Christmas so I never really get to do anything for it, but I’m off of work today so I’m super happy about that!

In celebration of my b-day, I decided to try my hand at some nail art. As I’ve mentioned before, I totally suck at it, which is why I almost never do posts featuring it.

Anyway, I’ve seen a lot of people do cupcake nails and think they’re super cute, so I wanted to give them a try. I wasn’t really happy with my results and so I wasn’t gonna post pics on the blog, but I posted a pic on Twitter and received support from some lovely ladies letting me know I hadn’t done as bad of a job as I’d thought (thanks ladies 🙂 )

So without further ado, here’s my birthday mani… On all but my ring finger I used 2 coats of FingerPaints Tiffany Imposter. I did the stripes and polka dots with Wet ‘n Wild French White Creme. The cupcake nail has 2 coats of Cult Nails Cruisin’ Nude as a base. The “paper” part of the cupcake was done with Tiffany Imposter and a random blue striper. The frosting is more French White Creme topped with Lynnderella The Glittering Crowd and a little rhinestone to finish it off. Peep it:

So what do you think of my little birthday mani?

I keep telling myself that one day I’ll be really awesome at nail art, but that’s probably not true, haha.

I hope you all have a wonderful day!

FingerPaints Crackle Effect

Hey There Peeps!

Can you believe it’s August already?!

Anyway, it seems that yet another company has jumped on the crackle wagon. Yep, FingerPaints has crackle now.

I was at Sally’s over the weekend and spotted a small display of 2 FingerPaints Crackle Effects in blue and purple. I was hesitant about getting them because they didn’t look like anything special, but Sally’s was having a buy 2 get 1 free sale so I decided to pick them up and see how they stacked up.

First up is Purple Crackle. It’s basically the exact same thing as China Glaze Fault Line. Nothing groundbreaking here. In the pic below I layered it over Wet ‘n WIld Black Creme.

.

.

And here’s Blue Crackle. This one is basically a dupe for OPI Blue Shatter. The main difference is it just doesn’t have the slight shimmer to it that Blue Shatter does. I layered it over Wet ‘n Wild French White Creme. For some reason it crackled all wonky on my pinky finger, otherwise I had no issues with it. Peep it:

.

So there you have it. I have to say that I’m extremely underwhelmed by these. I feel like for coming into the crackle game so late, FP could’ve done a better job and brought something new to the table. Blue and purple have been done, and done again. I think it would’ve been cool to see like a green, orange, or yellow crackle from them.

The only good thing about these is that they’re cheaper than China Glaze and OPI, so if you’d like to save a couple bucks but still get a nice blue or purple crackle, they’re worth it.

What do you think of these? Are you feeling as blah about them as I am?

True Blood Nails: Blood Spatter Mani

Happy Sunday Peeps!

I hope everyone has had a great weekend!

Mine has gone by much too fast, but I totally didn’t mind that this week. For once, I have actually been looking forward to Sunday night  because season 4 of True Blood premieres tonight! I’m so, so,so excited!

For 12 lovely weeks, instead of dreading Sunday night with its impending Monday morning, I will look forward to it with excitement and anticipation 🙂

In honor of  tonight’s premiere I decided to do a True Blood-inspired mani. I was originally gonna do something simple with Red and White Shatter, but when I saw this awesome splatter mani tutorial by Jen from The PolishAholic, I knew I had to do some blood splatter nails. I mean, how awesomely fitting right?

I used FingerPaints Don’t Make A Scene for my base color, and I did my “blood splatter” with Zoya Sooki (I couldn’t resist 🙂 ).

It was insanely easy to do and I’m super happy with how it came out. It’s one of my favorite manis ever. I have to warn you that there are quite a few pics because I loved it so much that I couldn’t pick just a couple to use. Check it out:

Doesn’t it remind you of this super hot cover that the main characters did for Rolling Stone?

Yum! I would totally be a fangbanger for all of that Eric Northman-Nordic-vampire-hotness! 🙂

So what do you lovelies think of this? Isn’t it so cool?!

I love how each nail ends up with a different pattern.

I got a lot of compliments on it at work yesterday and everyone was asking me how I did it. Like I said, it was insanely easy to do thanks to Jen’s awesome tutorial, so you should definitely check it out if you wanna recreate the look.

I’m looking forward to trying it with some other colors soon.

Anyway, I hope you all have a lovely Sunday, and for all of you True Blood fans, enjoy the show tonight!

FingerPaints Tiffany Imposter Vs. China Glaze For Audrey

Monday, Monday…..

I was gonna say Happy Monday, but I think that might be  a bit of an oxy-moron.

I’m pretty sure “happy” and “Monday” should not be in the same sentence unless that sentence is “Aren’t you happy it’s not Monday?” 🙂

Anyway, I finally got around to updating my stash spreadsheet this weekend. Yay me! So for those of you who are like me and love to look at things like that, it’s current as of Saturday 🙂

Moving on…today I’ve got a new color from FingerPaints called Tiffany Imposter.

When I saw this lovely I knew I had to have it because it reminded me of China Glaze For Audrey. And as you may or may not know, For Audrey is one of my favorite nail polishes of all time. I just lovelovelove the color of it, and it looks really great with my skin tone.

As the name implies, Tiffany Imposter is a color very similar to Tiffany Blue. It applied pretty well and was even and opaque in 2 easy coats. Check it out:

FingerPaints Peace, Love & Color

Hey Peeps! Happy Friday!

I finally got my new laptop yesterday, so this is officially the first post I’m doing from it. Yay!

Anyway, I know I’m kinda late on this, but today I have swatches of FingerPaints Summer 2011 collection: Peace, Love & Color.

When I saw the promo pics of these I was super excited about them, and luckily they didn’t disappoint.

Let’s get to the pics….

.

First up is Give Pink a Chance. This is a pink creme, that actually leans pretty orangeish-red. My pics give it more pink credit than it really has. I like it, but it’s kinda meh to me. I was hoping it was gonna be a more awesome pink that I could fall in love with, but oh well.

Pink Wednesday: Byte Me

Hello There Lovelies!

It’s Pink Wednesday again and I just realized that I haven’t posted since last Pink Wednesday! *Gasp!*

Shame on me.

I’m truly, truly sorry about that. As I explained before, work and a million other things have been wearing me out and I’ve been in a funk that has kept me from blogging the way I’d like to. However, I have still been acquiring new polish and doing swatches when I have a chance. I just need to get around to posting everything. I have a new laptop coming in the mail tomorrow so hopefully it’ll help me get my mojo back! 🙂

Anyway, on to today’s mani…

I was in Sally’s a few days ago and decided to grab a few bottles of Finger Paints because they were on sale.  As I was perusing the pinks, I came across Art You Kidding Me?

It’s pretty much your standard hot pink cream, but I snagged it cuz I liked the name. In the pic below I topped it with one coat of Sally Hansen HD Byte to jazz it up a little. Sorry the pic is kind of blinding-Peep it:
