Pop Tart Nails

Happy Monday Loves!

Sorry I left you guys without a new post for so long. 2 weeks just flies when you’re busy!

Anyway, today I have a super cute mani that I did using Lacquer Convention Pop Tart and OPI Red Lights Ahead…Where?

Pop Tart is a super awesome polish that’s made to look like the frosting on a pop tart. I think it nails it, cuz it totally looks like a strawberry pop tart to me. I freakin’ love it!

I decided to pair  Red Lights Ahead…where? with it because it reminds me of the color of the filling in a strawberry pop tart. I was kind of disappointed that Red Lights Ahead leans super coral on me, with barely any hint of red because I was really, really wanting it to be red. But I got over it because it turned out to be perfect for this mani.

In the pics below I used 2 creamy coats of Red Lights Ahead on my middle and pinky fingers, and 3  easy coats of Pop Tart on my ring and index. Peep it:

So what do you think of my little pop tart mani?

I love how it came out! Pop Tart is definitely a super fun polish that I see myself wearing again and again. My only regret is that I only got the mini bottle instead of the full-size one.

If you’re loving Pop Tart, you can stalk Lacquer Convention’s Etsy shop here, and try to snag yourself a bottle next time she opens up shop. The mini bottle like I have is only $2.85.  A steal, right?

That’s all for today my loves! Have a magnificent Monday!

Dollish Polish: I Wanna Do Bad Things To You

Happy Sunday Loves!

I hope you’ve all had a good weekend! I don’t even mind that the weekend is almost over because season 5 of True Blood premieres tonight! I’m so excited that my Sunday nights will be that much more exciting for the next 12 weeks 🙂

To celebrate the premiere, I decided to show you a lovely from Dollish Polish called I Wanna Do Bad Things To You. For any of you that aren’t Truebies, it’s named after the show’s theme song (the actual lyrics are “I wanna do bad things with you” but it’s close enough 🙂 ).

I Wanna Do Bad Things To You is packed full of cherry-red glitter, with some holographic glitter sprinkled throughout. I’m not really one for red polishes, but I had to have this baby for its name alone!

This lovely can be opaque on its own, but I only have a small bottle so I decided to layer it. And what better polish to layer it over than Zoya Sooki?!

In the pics below I have 2 coats of I Wanna Do Bad Things To You layered over 1 coat of Sooki. Peep it:

And for your viewing pleasure, here are a couple of True Blood hotties that I wanna do bad things to 😉

That’s all for today my loves!

Are any of you sporting some True Blood manis today? I’d love to see them if you are so feel free to leave a link in the comments.

Enjoy the rest of your weekends, and happy watching tonight to all my fellow Truebies 🙂

Nail-Venturous Floam

Happy Tuesday Loves!

Today I’m doing a special post to participate in Polish Days which is a cool idea that was created by a couple of other nail bloggers. Basically, a bunch of us nail bloggers will have a particular day that we collectively agree to post on one particular polish. I think it’s a fun and neat idea to see how the same polish looks on lots of different people.

The polish chosen for the first official “Polish Day” is the awesome bottle of fun that is Floam by Nail-Venturous.

I’m sure you guys have seen this swatched a million and one times already because it’s been one of the most popular polishes on the nail scene this year, but I haven’t posted on it yet, so I’m glad I saved it for today.

Floam is a mix of matte glitters in neon blue and yellow-green, floating happily in a clear base.

I’m gonna be honest and say that the first time I tried Floam, I was disappointed. It was gritty and thick and hard to do clean up on and I was so sad that it wasn’t all I’d expected it to be. I got my bottle from Ninja Polish on the first day that the site went live, so I considered myself super lucky to have snagged a bottle, and that’s the only thing that kept me from swapping it away. So I set it aside for a couple of weeks, and then I decided to layer it instead of building it up on its own, and voila! I stopped hating it and I fell in love with it for the beauty it is! 🙂

Anyway, in the pics below I layered 2 coats of Floam over 2 coats of China Glaze Turned Up Turquoise (which I happen to think is the perfect “underwear” for it 😉 ) . Peep it:

.

.

And here’s a pic of Floam with one of the rings that I made with it (available in my Etsy shop).

.

Floam is awesomesauce right?

It’s a pain in the ass to remove, but I think it’s so worth it.

So now that you’ve seen my swatches of this lovely, I encourage you to check out the other wonderful bloggers that are sporting Floam fingers today:

Pretty & Polished Freedom Calling

Happy Monday and Happy Memorial Day!

I’ve got a quick post today to show you one of the newest lovelies from Pretty & Polished: Freedom Calling.

Freedom Calling is a mix of red, white, blue and silver glitters of all different shapes and sizes in a clear base. It’s a very fun and patriotic color, so I though it fitting to do a mani with it for Memorial Day.

In the pics below I painted my nails with 2 coats of FingerPaints Inkblot Blue, and did an accent nail with 2 coats Zoya Sooki. Then I topped all nails with one coat of Freedom Calling. You can definitely do more coats if you want more glitter, but I was happy with the coverage that I got with one. Check it out:

.

.

.

So what do you think of Freedom Calling?

I think it’s kind of like a red, white and blue version of Connect the Dots.

It’s a perfect little polish that makes it super easy to do festive nails. I’m definitely gonna use it for a 4th of July mani this year as well.

You can buy Freedom Calling from Pretty&Polished’s Etsy shop. The mini bottle that I have is 7ml and it goes for  $4.75 a pop. It’s out of stock right now, but Chelsea does a good job of re-stocking pretty often, and she always announces when a re-stock is planned. So keep your eyes peeled and you can snag a bottle for yourself 🙂

That’s all for today peeps. Let me know what you think of Freedom Calling and have magnificent Monday 😉

NOTD: Deborah Lippmann Mermaid’s Dream & Zoya Wednesday

Happy Friday Peeps!

I hope you’ve all had lovely weeks and are looking forward to the weekend. I know I am…though the highlight of my weekend is sleeping in and being lazy, because for once I have nothing planned. So sad that doing nothing is so exciting. I’m livin’ the dream! 😉

Anyway, today I have a little mani that I did using Deborah Lippmann Mermaid’s Dream and Zoya Wednesday.

First of all, Mermaid’s Dream is just so much ridiculous awesomeness in a bottle and I’m so glad I finally got my hands on it. I can’t even describe how great it is. It’s a glittery/shimmery/foil combo that is just completely gorgeous. Plus, it applies like a dream. Lippmanns are pretty expensive at $16-18 a bottle, but if you’re gonna drop some dough on one, let it be this one. Luckily I had a Zappos gift card that I got from work, so I didn’t have to drop my own cash on it, and that makes me love it even more 😉

Then we have Zoya Wednesday which is also amazing in its own right. It’s a beautiful, dusty blue/green creme. And like most of Zoya’s cremes, it has a great formula; not too thick and not too thin.

For this mani I used 2 coats of Wednesday on all but my ring and pinky fingers. Then on my ring and pinky, I used 3 coats of Mermaid’s Dream. I wanted to try out the newish trend of doing 2 accent nails instead of just the one, and I really like how it came out. Peep the pics:

.

.

.

And because Mermaid’s Dream is so awesome, I decided to also make a couple of rings out of it (I have them on my Etsy shop). Peep it:

.

.

Don’t Mermaid’s Dream and Wednesday make a good couple? I loved this mani so much that I wore it for 3 days, which is pretty epic for someone who changes their polish daily.

Anyway, let me know what you think of this mani, and have a fantastic Friday!

Aphrodite Lacquers Ambrosia

Hey Peeps! Happy Pink Wednesday!

I haven’t done a pink Wednesday in foreverrrrr…and to be honest, doing one today was an accident. It just so happened that the mani I most recently took pics of was pink 🙂

Anyway,  today I’ve got another lovely indie polish from Etsy. It’s a beautiful glittery jelly called Ambrosia by Aphrodite Lacquers.

Ambrosia is part of Aphrodite Lacquers’ Sandbar collection. It’s a light pink jelly interspersed with fuchsia, pink and silver glitter. It’s super gorgeous on its own, but I was going for a more opaque look so I layered it over Essie Tour de Finance.

In the pics below I used 2 coats of Tour de Finance and 2 coats of Ambrosia. Peep it:

.

.

.

Pretty, right?

You can buy Ambrosia and the other 5 lovelies in the Sandbar Collection from Aphrodite Lacquers’ Etsy shop.

Ambrosia is currently out of stock, but should be back at the end of the month. There are still three other colors from the collection available as I write this post. I own 4 of the 6 in the collection and I definitely recommend all of them, so get your hands on them if you have a chance.

That’s all for today folks. Have a happy hump day!

Pretty & Polished Phoenix

Happy Thursday Loves!

I hope you all have had a great week so far! Today is my Friday, so I’m looking forward to powering through the work day and getting to the weekend! 🙂

Today I’ve got another awesome indie polish for you. It’s Phoenix from Pretty & Polished.

Phoenix is a super gorgeous polish made up of a pale orange base packed with tons of small orange, yellow and red matte glitter (mmm I love matte glitter!), and medium red hex glitter. It’s so freakin’ beautiful! It’s like a little fire in a bottle.

It can probably be worn on its own and be opaque in a few coats, but I have a small bottle so I decided to layer it to save as much as this lovely as possible. I layered it over the awesome, fiery orange beauty that is China Glaze Riveting.

In the pics below I have 2 coats of Phoenix layered over 2 coats of Riveting. The glitter in Phoenix spreads really well, but you do have to fish a little for the hex glitter. That’s ok with me though, because the end result is amazing! Check it out:

.

.

.

I wanted to throw in this picture because it looks like my nails are glowing!:

.

Awesome right?!

I couldn’t stop staring at my nails when I wore this because it was like they were on fire! I love it!

You can buy Phoenix from Pretty & Polished on Etsy. I’m not sure if Phoenix is available in a full size bottle, but the little one like I have is $4.75

Let me know what you think of this lovely and have a terrific Thursday! 🙂
