Easter Chick Nails

Happy Easter Peeps!

I’m super excited because I usually have to work every Sunday, but I’m off today for the holiday so I have a 4-day weekend. It doesn’t get much better than that 🙂

First off, I realized that yesterday I forgot to mention a couple other bloggers that let me know they’d be doing some blue posts for Autism Awareness month. They are:

Anyway, I was originally planning on doing a simple mani for today, but yesterday afternoon I got the itch to try out some nail art (even though we all know that I royally suck at it).

Because I’m very challenged when it comes to nail art, I had to do something that would be fairly simple, and it had to involve dotting tools because they’re pretty easy to work with. In the pics below you’ll see what I came up with. My dots aren’t perfectly spaced, and I smeared a couple of them a bit when I applied top coat, but overall I’m pretty proud of my final result.

On my index and pinky fingers I used 2 coats of China Glaze Kinetic Candy, and on my middle finger and thumb (not pictured) I used 2 coats of China Glaze For Audrey. Then using a small dotting tool I randomly placed dots over each nail using China Glaze Happy Go Lucky.

To create the little chick on my ring finger, I used 3 coats of Happy Go Lucky, then I drew the little broken shell on my tips using OPI Alpine Snow and my dotting tool. I finished it off using Wet ‘n Wild Black Creme for the eyes and Zoya Paz for the little beak. Peep it 😉

So, as I said before, I’m pretty happy with how these came out. It took me an exorbitant amount of time to do this, and I redid my ring finger like 5 times, but it was worth it.

That being said, I think I’m gonna continue to stay far away from nail art (unless it’s a special occasion), because I’m just not naturally good at it so it takes way more effort than I’m willing to exert on a regular basis.

Are any of you wearing a special Easter mani today?

Let me know what you think of my little chick nails, and have a Happy Easter! 🙂

Super Bowl Nails

It’s Super Bowl Sunday! Yay!

I loooooove football, so even though my team (the Colts) sucked this year and didn’t make it, I’m still super excited about the Super Bowl today.

It’s gonna be The Giants vs. The Patriots and I’m rooting for the Giants…mostly because Eli Manning is their quarterback, and if I can’t root for Peyton Manning and the Colts, the Giants are the next best option 🙂

Anyway, against my better judgement, I decided to show you guys my pathetic attempt at a Super Bowl mani today. We all know I suck at nail art, so combine that with being totally uninspired, and you get the mani you see below. The bonus is it works for whichever team you’re rooting for because both teams’ colors include red, white, and blue. Peep it:

My index is China Glaze High Roller, ring is OPI Alpine Snow and pinky is Misa On The Edge-all topped with Milani Jewel FX in Red. My middle finger is a pathetic attempt at a football using Zoya Angelina and a random white striper

So there you have my less than wonderful attempt at a Super Bowl mani.

Are any of you sporting some spirit fingers today?

What team are you rooting for?

NOTD: My Birthday Cupcake Mani

Happy Thursday My Loves!

Today is a super special Thursday cuz its also my birthday! Yay!

My birthday is very close to Christmas so I never really get to do anything for it, but I’m off of work today so I’m super happy about that!

In celebration of my b-day, I decided to try my hand at some nail art. As I’ve mentioned before, I totally suck at it, which is why I almost never do posts featuring it.

Anyway, I’ve seen a lot of people do cupcake nails and think they’re super cute, so I wanted to give them a try. I wasn’t really happy with my results and so I wasn’t gonna post pics on the blog, but I posted a pic on Twitter and received support from some lovely ladies letting me know I hadn’t done as bad of a job as I’d thought (thanks ladies 🙂 )

So without further ado, here’s my birthday mani… On all but my ring finger I used 2 coats of FingerPaints Tiffany Imposter. I did the stripes and polka dots with Wet ‘n Wild French White Creme. The cupcake nail has 2 coats of Cult Nails Cruisin’ Nude as a base. The “paper” part of the cupcake was done with Tiffany Imposter and a random blue striper. The frosting is more French White Creme topped with Lynnderella The Glittering Crowd and a little rhinestone to finish it off. Peep it:

So what do you think of my little birthday mani?

I keep telling myself that one day I’ll be really awesome at nail art, but that’s probably not true, haha.

I hope you all have a wonderful day!

Pink Wednesday: Cracked and Spotted

Happy Pink Wednesday Peeps!

I’m interrupting my Purple Holo Week for Pink Wednesday today, but I promise the holo loveliness will resume tomorrow. 🙂

First up, Pink Wednesdays now has a twitter account thanks to an awesome suggestion by the lovely Sammy from The Nailasaurus. So you can follow us on twitter, and if you participate in Pink Wednesdays, you can tweet a link to your post @PinkWednesday, and we’ll retweet it for you 🙂

Anyhow, today I have a really easy mani that I think looks pretty cool…

I know a lot of you are over the whole crackle/shatter phase now since every single nail polish brand seems to have jumped on the bandwagon lately, but I’m still kind of into it. I’ve said this before, but I totally suck at nail art, but I love how crackle makes it look like I did something awesome on my nails when it doesn’t really take any effort at all.

In the pic below I used 3 coats of OPI Steady As She Rose then topped it off with China Glaze Broken Hearted on all but my ring finger. On my ring finger I decided to do a little something different, so I busted out my nifty little dotting tool and placed some random dots atop Steady As She Rose using OPI I’m Indi-a Mood For Love…and voila!- a cute mani for the nail-art challenged 🙂

So what do you guys think? Do you still love crackle? Do you agree that it’s an almost effortless way to make your nails look cool, or are you totally over it?

As always, don’t forget to go to the Pink Wednesday site to check out some other pink manis today- there are a few new participants added to the blogroll!

Have a happy hump day!

Pink Wednesday: Ink A Dink A Pink Posies

Happy Hump Day Peeps!

Today I have a little bit of nail art for you. I’ve said this before, but I totally suck at nail art…which is unfortunate because I have tons of nail art goodies like rhinestones, dotting/stamping tools. etc. I’m not sure why I’m so bad at it because I’m really good at painting and drawing in general, but for some reason those skills do not translate to my nails.

Anyway, I got the itch to try some nail art yesterday and today’s mani was born.

It’s pretty much a fail as most of my attempts at nail art are, but I decided to show it anyway 🙂

My base color is Nicole by OPI Ink A Dink A Pink which is a beautiful magenta with a flash of purple to it. I love this color and it was one of the first bottles of NOPI that I bought a few years ago. It goes on really smooth and easy, but it is a little thin so I used 3 coats to get it totally opaque.

Over that I used a dotting tool and OPI Alpine Snow to make a couple randomly placed white flowers on each nail, then I placed a black rhinestone in the center of each. I totally flubbed the flowers on my pinky nail, but considering my lack of skills, it was bound to happen 🙂 Peep it:

Pink Wednesday: Bubblegum Braille Nails

What is that smell?
Oh, Regina gave me some perfume.
You smell like a baby prostitute.
Thanks.

.

Happy Pink Wednesday Peeps!

Today I have one of the yummy-smelling polishes from Color Club’s Wicked Sweet Collection.

It’s called Yum Gum and it smells like….gum. Like that pink Bazooka Joe bubblegum. Yum, yum bubblegum!

The scent of bubblegum usually makes me a little nauseous for some reason, but this was surprisingly pleasant.

Color Club did a pretty awesome job with the scents on the Wicked Sweet collection. I think they’re even better than the scented Revlons that I’ve raved about before. It’s funny because I told my brother to smell it and he took a huge whiff from the bottle and was like “Whoah! That just opened my mind!” Haha. He’s so silly.

Anyway, Yum Gum is a creamy pink neon. It was a little bit streaky so I had to use 3 coats to get it opaque and even, but I totally l-o-v-e it.

And because it’s Pink Wednesday, I decided to get a little creative…so with little rhinestones, I spelled out the word PINK across my nails in Braille. Cute right? Check it out…
