NOTD: Models Own Aqua Violet & Wet ‘n Wild Believe Me, It’s Real

It’s Monday again… *le sigh*

First off, I did a guest post¬†for the lovely Marta over at Chit Chat Nails yesterday. I did some Burlesque nails that I’m pretty proud of, so check it out here if you haven’t already. ūüôā

Anyway, I hope you all had a great weekend! Mine went by way too fast, as usual.

I was planning on getting a ton of swatching done this weekend of all the new pretties I got, but laziness kicked in and I didn’t get around to it. So today I’m showing you the guys the mani that I’m currently wearing.

After having it for months without trying it, I finally decided to get into my Models Own Beetle Juice Collection. I did a post showing Golden Green last week, and today I have Aqua Violet.

This one has a stronger duochrome effect than Golden Green, and as the name suggests, it’s aqua and violet. I¬†tried to capture the color change, but in the pics below you can mostly see the aqua with a hint of the violet at the edges. It’s much stronger in person. The formula on it was a little thin, so I had to use 3 coats, but it was very smooth and easy to apply.

As I am wont to do, I decided to add a little bling on my ring finger, so I layered on one coat of Wet ‘n Wild Believe Me, It’s Real. It has turquoise and purple glitter in it, so I thought it would compliment Aqua Violet well. Peep it:

What do you think of this mani?

I’m slowly working my way through the Beetle Juice Collection (I know, I know…I’m so late), and I’m loving each color so far.

Aqua Violet and the other lovelies from The Beetle Juice Collection can be purchased on the Models Own website for £5 ($8) individually, or £20 ($32)  for the set + a top coat/base coat.

Let me know what you think of Aqua Violet and have a great day! ūüôā

NOTD: Models Own Golden Green & Wet ‘n Wild Give Me A Price Quote

Happy Saturday Loves!

Look at me doing a post 2 days in a row! Go me!

I usually forget to take pics of polish that I actually wear as a full mani rather than just swatches, but I remembered today! I’ve been on a green polish kick lately so I decided to finally bust out my Models Own Beetle Juice collection and give Golden Green a try.

First of all, I have no idea why it’s taken me this long to wear anything from the Beetle Juice collection. Though some people were underwhelmed by it, I happen to think it rocks. Secondly, why have I not tried Models Own polishes before?!¬† I love how smoothly they apply!

Anyway, in the pics below you can see the glowy green goodness that is Golden Green. The duochrome effect isn’t the best I’ve seen, but I still think it’s beautiful. I used 3 smooth coats, then added a little bling on my ring finger with 1 coat of Wet ‘n Wild Give Me A Price Quote. Ch-ch-check it out:

And just for fun, here are a couple of pics of my awesome fingerless gloves. Yay for beauty and warmth!

That’s all for today peeps!

Do you own any colors from the Beetle Juice collection? How do you feel about them?

Have a wonderful weekend!

Nubar Black Polka Dot and White Polka Dot

Hey Peeps!

I’m gonna try to make this post short and sweet because I’ve been working a different¬†schedule at work the past few days, and I’m kind of out of my mind with tiredness because I’m not used to it.

Anyway, today I have a couple of lovelies from Nubar for you: Black Polka Dot and White Polka Dot.

Both of them are glitter topcoats that are intended to make it look like you have polka dots on you nails (which I happen to think is a pretty awesome idea). Black Polka Dot is full of black glitter, while White Polka Dot is full of white/silver glitter. The glitter in both consists of small round and large hexagon pieces.

In the pics below I layered¬†1 coat of Black Polka Dot over¬†3 coats of Wet ‘n Wild White Creme and 1 coat of White Polka Dot over 2 coats of Wet ‘n Wild Black Creme. Check ’em out:

I really like these because it’s a¬†cute idea, and I totally see myself layering both of them over other colors – especially Black Polka Dot because it’s such a perfect black glitter! The only thing is you¬†kinda have to¬†place¬†the larger pieces of glitter because they have a tendency to move around, but it’s nothing too annoying.

So what do you think of them? Let me know and have a happy Tuesday! ūüôā

NOTD: A Leopard In The Celtic Sun

Hey Peeps!

I hope you all had a great weekend!

I woke up this morning with¬†a migraine the size of Texas, so I’m pretty sure my week can only get better from here.

Anyway, today I have a mani that I did using the insanely bright China Glaze Celtic Sun. It’s a neon that is pretty much¬†¬†the exact same color of a yellow highlighter, and it’s so bright that it made my nails look like they were glowing-even in the dark!

I saw¬†¬†a cute and simple¬†stamping mani on another blog (I can’t remember which one at the moment, but I will give credit when I do) that I felt my limited nail art skills could actually recreate, so I decided to give it a try with this amazing brightness.

In the pics below I used 4¬† coats of Celtic Sun on all but my ring finger. On my ring finger I used¬†2 coats of OPI Alpine Snow, then stamped on the leopard print using Wet ‘n Wild Black Creme, and went back through with a dotting tool to dab on spots of Celtic Sun. Peep it:

See what I mean about it being bright?!

My camera was freaking out when I tried to photograph it.

Even though neons like this can be annoying to apply and take forever to build up, I think the color pay off is totally worth it.

How do you feel about neons? Love ’em or leave ’em?

Happy Party, Lucky Glitter

Happy Hump Day Peeps!

I hope you’ve all had a great week so far!

First off let me share that I did a guest post for Kellie on Also Known As… yesterday! OMG exciting right?! If you haven’t seen it, you can go check it out here. I stretched my nail art skills as far as they can go for it ūüôā

Anyway,¬†I know that today is Pink Wednesday and all, but I’m cheating because I don’t have a pink mani for you today…

I’m having a pretty craptastic day because my favorite uncle passed away, so I decided to paint my nails a bright, happy color to try to cheer myself up a bit.

I chose to use the bright yellow¬†creaminess that is China Glaze Happy Go Lucky, topped off with the glittery goodness of¬†Wet ‘n Wild Party of Five Glitters.

In the pics below I used 3 thin coats of Happy Go Lucky (which applies like a dream and is probably the best yellow I’ve ever used), and one coat of Party of Five Glitters. Check it out:

That’s all for today peeps! What do you think of this combo?

I really love it, and it did cheer me up a little-I mean, you really can’t go wrong if you’re using 2 polishes that have the words “happy” and “party” in their names ūüôā

I may be on a brief hiatus for the next week or so because of everything that’s going on, but I promise I’ll be back! ūüôā

Pink Wednesday: Fun With Nfu Oh 50!

Happy Hump Day Loves!

It’s Pink Wednesday Again! ūüôā

Today I have a fun layering look done with the lovely Nfu Oh 50

There’s always a lot of love shown for Nfu Oh 51 and 52, which are indeed amazingly gorgeous, but what about their sister 50? She’s pretty too!

Nfu Oh 50 is a pinkish/lavender jelly with light green flakies in it. It’s very thin, so it’s not too special on its own, but start layering it and her true beauty comes out.

Being as it’s Pink Wednesday and all, I decided to see what it would look like over a pink polish, so¬†I used Wet ‘n Wild Tickled Pink as my base. Tickled Pink¬†on its own is kind of a mess. The application is all streaky and chalky, so I’m not sure I’d wear it by itself, but layer a couple of coats of Nfu Oh 50 on top and you’ve got a¬†whole new level of pretty.

In the pics below I used 3 coats of Tickled Pink and 2 coats of 50. Peep it:

.

.

.

Mmm, subtle but yummy flakey goodness! ūüôā

50 doesn’t stand out as well over a light color as it does over a¬†dark one, but I think it still looks nice.

Do you prefer flakies like this layered over light or dark colors? Let me know what you think and have a lovely Pink Wednesday! ūüôā

FingerPaints Crackle Effect

Hey There Peeps!

Can you believe it’s August already?!

Anyway, it seems that yet another company has jumped on the crackle wagon. Yep, FingerPaints has crackle now.

I was at Sally’s over the weekend and spotted a small display of 2 FingerPaints Crackle Effects¬†in blue and purple. I was hesitant about getting them because they didn’t look like anything special, but¬†Sally’s was¬†having a buy 2 get 1 free sale so I decided to pick them up and see how they stacked up.

First up is Purple Crackle. It’s basically the exact same thing as China Glaze Fault Line. Nothing groundbreaking here. In the pic below I layered it over Wet ‘n WIld Black Creme.

.

.

And here’s Blue Crackle. This one is¬†basically a dupe¬†for OPI Blue Shatter. The main difference¬†is it just doesn’t have the¬†slight shimmer to it that Blue Shatter does.¬†I layered it over Wet ‘n Wild French White Creme. For some reason it crackled all wonky on my pinky finger, otherwise I had no issues with it. Peep it:

.

.

.

So there you have it. I have to say that I’m extremely underwhelmed by these. I feel like for coming into the crackle game so late, FP could’ve done a better job and brought something new to the table. Blue and purple have been done, and done again.¬†I think it would’ve been cool to see like a green, orange, or yellow crackle from them.

The only good thing about these is that they’re cheaper than China Glaze and OPI, so if you’d like to save a couple bucks but still get a nice blue or purple crackle, they’re worth it.

What do you think of these? Are you feeling as blah about them as I am?
