NOTD: Hot Purple Jelly Sandwich

Happy Thursday Peeps!

I’m super excited because my weekend started today, so yay for being off of work until next week! I got a ton of lovely nail mail the past couple of days, so I’m gonna try to have a swatch-fest while I’m off so I can show you guys all the goods 🙂

A quick update on the giveaway: I’m validating entries as you read this, so I’m hoping to have the winners notified and announced within the next couple of days. Thanks for your patience 🙂

Anyway, today I have a lovely little jelly sandwich that I did using New York Summer Hot Purple and NOPI Rainbow In The S-Kylie. I lovelovelove Hot Purple. If you don’t own it, you need to get it because it is the most perfectly awesome jelly ever!

In the pics below I used 1 coat of Rainbow In The S-Kylie sandwiched between 4 coats (2 on top, 2 on the bottom) of Hot Purple. You can definitely see some major VNL, but it’s a jelly, so that’s expected. However, in real life, the purple shows up darker and looks more opaque, so the VNL is far less noticeable. Peep it:

And just for fun, I wanted to show you guys my new tattoo 🙂 A friend on twitter (who has a cute knitting blog you can view here) tweeted a pic of a tattoo she’d gotten on her finger and I fell in love, so I had to go get one of my own.

I took Latin for like 4 years in high school and college, and I’m left-handed, so I thought it would be cool to get the Latin word for “left” tattooed on my finger. It just so happens that “left” in Latin is “sinister” 😉

.

That’s it for today my loves! What do you think of my little jelly sandwich?

I’m pretty sure I need like a million bottles of Hot Purple because it’s so perfect. I don’t know if they sell it in stores, but I got my bottle from Trans Design for like $1.75 or something.

Let me know your thoughts on this mani, and have a terrific Thursday!

Pink Wednesday: Ink A Dink A Pink Posies

Happy Hump Day Peeps!

Today I have a little bit of nail art for you. I’ve said this before, but I totally suck at nail art…which is unfortunate because I have tons of nail art goodies like rhinestones, dotting/stamping tools. etc. I’m not sure why I’m so bad at it because I’m really good at painting and drawing in general, but for some reason those skills do not translate to my nails.

Anyway, I got the itch to try some nail art yesterday and today’s mani was born.

It’s pretty much a fail as most of my attempts at nail art are, but I decided to show it anyway 🙂

My base color is Nicole by OPI Ink A Dink A Pink which is a beautiful magenta with a flash of purple to it. I love this color and it was one of the first bottles of NOPI that I bought a few years ago. It goes on really smooth and easy, but it is a little thin so I used 3 coats to get it totally opaque.

Over that I used a dotting tool and OPI Alpine Snow to make a couple randomly placed white flowers on each nail, then I placed a black rhinestone in the center of each. I totally flubbed the flowers on my pinky nail, but considering my lack of skills, it was bound to happen 🙂 Peep it:

Iceberg Lotus w/a Side of Shattered Tips

Yay! The weekend is here!

I hope everyone’s weekend is off to a good start. I have to work today (which should be against the law), but it’s ok because I’m still happy that it’s Saturday 🙂

In an earlier post I mentioned how I went to Target and picked up a couple of their Nicole by OPI “exclusives”, and I have another one of them for you today.

It’s the beautiful Iceberg Lotus.

When I first saw the promos for this collection, this baby was at the top of my wishlist, and while it looks a bit different in person, it definitely does not disappoint.

It’s a very shimmery, glass-flecked  tealish-green with a flash of bright blue iridescence. It reminds me a wee bit of Zoya Charla.

Anyway, I say this a lot, but I’m in love with this polish. I don’t have one single complaint about it. It’s a whole lot of gorgeous, shimmery goodness, and I had no problems with application. In the pics below I used 3 coats to get it where I liked it (though there’s still some VNL). Check ’em out:
